FR À l’occasion de la 10ᵉ édition du PhotoBrussels Festival, Cloud Seven enrichit son exposition en cours (Not) All Is Gold par une intervention photographique.

Aux côtés des photographes déjà présentés dans l’exposition, Matthieu Laurette et Céline Mathieu rejoignent le projet. Leurs pratiques interrogent les systèmes de valeur du monde de l’art, en abordant les notions d’auteur·rice, de propriété et le rôle du collectionneur, ainsi que les mécanismes par lesquels la valeur artistique est construite, perçue et négociée.

Leur intervention s’inscrit dans le cadre du projet (Not) All Is Gold, qui explore les notions mouvantes et relatives de valeur dans l’art contemporain, en portant une attention particulière aux conditions économiques, symboliques et sociales de la production artistique.

Une conversation publique avec les deux artistes aura lieu le jeudi 29 janvier (18h20–20h00), modérée par Christoph Rausch, professeur d’économie à l’Université de Maastricht, dont les recherches portent sur les relations entre l’art et la valeur. Il finalise actuellement un ouvrage intitulé Better than Gold: Art in Storage and the Making of Financial Value.

Cloud Seven est un lieu hybride réunissant un espace d’art et un espace de coworking. Prolongeant ce désir de rencontre, les œuvres de Matthieu Laurette, THINGS (Purchased with Funds Provided by Frédéric de Goldschmidt), 2010–2023, et de Céline Mathieu, Teeth II, 2023, sont présentées au Cloud Bar.

NL Ter gelegenheid van de 10de editie van het PhotoBrussels Festival verrijkt Cloud Seven zijn lopende tentoonstelling (Not) All Is Gold met een fotografische interventie.

Naast de fotografen die reeds in de tentoonstelling te zien zijn, sluiten Matthieu Laurette en Céline Mathieu zich aan. Hun praktijken stellen de waardesystemen van de kunstwereld in vraag en behandelen thema’s als auteurschap, eigendom en de rol van de verzamelaar, evenals de mechanismen waarmee artistieke waarde wordt geconstrueerd, waargenomen en onderhandeld.

Hun interventie maakt deel uit van het lopende project (Not) All Is Gold, dat de veranderlijke en relatieve opvattingen over waarde in de hedendaagse kunst onderzoekt, met bijzondere aandacht voor de economische, symbolische en sociale voorwaarden van artistieke productie.

Een publiek gesprek met beide kunstenaars vindt plaats op donderdag 29 januari (18:20–20:00), gemodereerd door Christoph Rausch, hoogleraar economie aan de Universiteit Maastricht, wiens onderzoek zich richt op de relatie tussen kunst en waarde. Hij werkt momenteel aan de afronding van een boek met de titel Better than Gold: Art in Storage and the Making of Financial Value.

Cloud Seven is een hybride plek die een kunstruimte en een coworkingruimte samenbrengt. In het verlengde van deze wens tot ontmoeting worden de werken van Matthieu Laurette, THINGS (Purchased with Funds Provided by Frédéric de Goldschmidt), 2010–2023, en Céline Mathieu, Teeth II, 2023, gepresenteerd in de Cloud Bar.

EN On the occasion of the 10th edition of PhotoBrussels Festival, Cloud Seven is enriching its current exhibition (Not) All Is Gold with a photographic intervention.

Joining the photographers already featured in the exhibition are Matthieu Laurette and Céline Mathieu. Their practices question the value systems of the art world, addressing notions of authorship, ownership, and the role of the collector, as well as the mechanisms through which artistic value is constructed, perceived, and negotiated.

Their intervention is part of the ongoing (Not) All Is Gold project, which explores the shifting and relative notions of value in contemporary art, with particular attention to the economic, symbolic, and social conditions of artistic production.

A public conversation with both artists will take place on Thursday 29 January (18:20–20:00), moderated by Christoph Rausch, Professor of Economics at Maastricht University, whose research focuses on the relationships between art and value. He is currently finalizing a book titled Better than Gold: Art in Storage and the Making of Financial Value.

Cloud Seven is a hybrid venue bringing together an art space and a coworking space. Extending this desire for encounter, the works by Matthieu Laurette, THINGS (Purchased with Funds Provided by Frédéric de Goldschmidt), 2010–2023, and Céline Mathieu, Teeth II, 2023, are presented in the Cloud Bar.
