Greetings from Brussels - Group show
17 January - 27 February 2027

EN Schönfeld Gallery presents a curated selection of photographs, postcards and prints from the Plaizier archive. How does a photograph become a postcard? Which images remain with us and help shape the way we see a city? With Greetings from Brussels, Schönfeld Gallery presents a selection from Plaizier’s rich photographic archive. For many years, the Brussels-based publishing house has specialised in postcards, posters and publications about Brussels — and much more besides. The exhibition traces the journey of a photographic image: from the photographer’s eye to an image that is printed, sent, collected and cherished. Bringing together historical and contemporary photography, Greetings from Brussels reveals how images not only capture moments, but also help shape the identity and collective memory of a city. In this context, the postcard is much more than a souvenir. It tells stories, travels around the world and preserves small fragments of history. In a year that marks 200 years of photography and Plaizier’s fiftieth anniversary, Greetings from Brussels invites us to reflect once again on the distinctive role the postcard has played for generations: both in circulating photographic images and in preserving the visual memory of Brussels.
