Invitation aux lieux participants – 11e édition
Le succès et la dynamique de la 10e édition ont confirmé la place essentielle du festival dans le paysage culturel bruxellois et son rôle fédérateur auprès des publics, des artistes et des professionnel·les de l’image.
Pour sa 11e édition, PhotoBrussels Festival s’inscrira dans un contexte particulier : le festival a reçu le label « Bicentenaire de l’invention de la photographie », délivré par le Ministère de la Culture en France aux lieux et événements qui mettent la photographie à l’honneur dans le cadre de cette célébration internationale, organisée de septembre 2026 à septembre 2027.
À cette occasion, une thématique liée au bicentenaire est proposée aux lieux participants. Elle n’est pas imposée, mais pourra constituer un fil conducteur fort pour ceux qui souhaitent s’en emparer : photographie historique, réflexion sur le médium et ses 200 ans d’histoire, évolution des pratiques, expérimentations contemporaines, ou encore perspectives d’avenir.
Cette 11e édition est également l’occasion de développer plusieurs nouveautés destinées à renforcer la visibilité du festival et l’expérience du public : des parcours par quartier, afin de mieux accompagner les visiteurs dans la découverte des lieux, un cycle de conférences ou des lectures d’images et workshops pour accroître encore le rayonnement de l’événement.

Invitation to Participating Venues – 11th Edition
The success and momentum of the 10th edition confirmed the festival’s essential place within Brussels’ cultural landscape and its unifying role for audiences, artists, and image professionals.
For its 11th edition, PhotoBrussels Festival will take place in a particularly significant context: the festival has been awarded the “Bicentennial of the Invention of Photography” label by the French Ministry of Culture. This distinction is granted to venues and events that celebrate photography as part of the international bicentennial programme, running from September 2026 to September 2027.
On this occasion, a theme related to the bicentennial is proposed to participating venues. While not mandatory, it may serve as a strong common thread for those wishing to engage with it: historical photography, reflections on the medium and its 200-year history, the evolution of photographic practices, contemporary experimentation, or future perspectives.
This 11th edition will also introduce several new initiatives designed to enhance the festival’s visibility and enrich the visitor experience: neighbourhood-based routes to help guide audiences through participating venues, as well as a programme of talks, portfolio reviews, image-reading sessions, and workshops to further extend the festival’s reach and impact.

Uitnodiging aan deelnemende locaties – 11e editie
Het succes en de dynamiek van de 10e editie hebben de essentiële plaats van het festival binnen het Brusselse culturele landschap bevestigd, evenals zijn verbindende rol voor publiek, kunstenaars en professionals uit de beeldwereld.
Voor de 11e editie vindt het PhotoBrussels Festival plaats in een bijzonder betekenisvolle context: het festival heeft het label “Tweehonderdste Verjaardag van de Uitvinding van de Fotografie” ontvangen, toegekend door het Franse Ministerie van Cultuur aan locaties en evenementen die fotografie centraal stellen binnen dit internationale herdenkingsprogramma, dat loopt van september 2026 tot september 2027.
Ter gelegenheid hiervan wordt aan de deelnemende locaties een thema voorgesteld dat verband houdt met deze tweehonderdste verjaardag. Dit thema is niet verplicht, maar kan een sterke rode draad vormen voor wie ermee aan de slag wil gaan: historische fotografie, reflecties over het medium en zijn 200-jarige geschiedenis, de evolutie van fotografische praktijken, hedendaagse experimenten of toekomstperspectieven.
Deze 11e editie biedt tevens de gelegenheid om verschillende nieuwe initiatieven te ontwikkelen die de zichtbaarheid van het festival versterken en de bezoekerservaring verrijken: parcours per wijk om bezoekers beter te begeleiden bij hun ontdekking van de deelnemende locaties, evenals een programma van lezingen, portfolioreviews, beeldbesprekingen en workshops om de uitstraling en impact van het evenement verder te vergroten.
