Lux Fallax - "Traqueur de Lumières" (Yves Ullens, BE 1960) & Gilles Teboul (FR, 1961)
17 January - 27 February 2027
EN With Lux Fallax, Michèle Schoonjans Gallery brings together two artists who each explore light through a distinctive practice. Yves Ullens, known as Traqueur de Lumières (Light Chaser), captures its movement through photography, in a gesture akin to dance, balancing deliberate blur with painterly abstraction. Gilles Teboul, meanwhile, steps away from the traditional painter’s gesture: he pours coloured resins onto canvases laid flat, allowing gravity to shape the surface and time to reveal its effects, much as in photography. His shimmering paintings capture and reflect the light of the spaces they inhabit. A photographer for over twenty-five years, Yves Ullens (born in Brussels in 1960) is represented in numerous collections, including those of the Mark Rothko Centre and Beobank. He is also the founder of the movement The Borders. Gilles Teboul (born in Paris in 1961), whose work is associated with the Californian Light and Space movement, has exhibited at the Museum Gegenstandsfreier Kunst in Otterndorf, Galerie Richard in Paris and Nancy Toomey Fine Art in San Francisco, among others.
Lux Fallax, deceptive light: elusive and fleeting, yet always at the heart of the gaze of those who know how to capture it.
