Surimpression - Group show
17 January - 27 February 2027
EN Surimpression brings together photographic paintings by artist and film maker Eleanor Ekserdjian and photographer Arthur Vickery, and ceramic sculptures by Sam Chatto. Arthur Vickery has developed a new process of imbedding drawings within camera-less photography, using moving image and photo-sensitive paper Ekserdjian is drawing directly into the sheet while Sam Chatto is a ceramic sculptor who combines porcelain with hand dug clay, which during the wood-firing process interacts and melts at different temperatures - creating effects which like these photographic pieces have uncontrollable outcomes which allow the material process to take over. Each of these artists are interested in the use of light to create works of art, evoking the feeling of being in landscape, rather than depicting landscape itself. Both the photographic and ceramic works explore experimental processes, breaking new ground on what is believed to be possible in the medium, each work of art is unique.
