FR Stijn Cole est un artiste pluridisciplinaire dont la pratique s’articule autour de la relation entre le spectateur et son ancrage dans le paysage. Il cherche à représenter l’impact créé par les variations du temps et de la lumière sur un environnement naturel grâce à un processus impliquant des formes d’art analogiques et numériques et alternant abstraction et figuration. À l’occasion de sa deuxième exposition personnelle à la galerie, Stijn Cole présente un nouvel ensemble d'œuvres inspirées par le cycle des saisons. Conçue comme un espace de transition entre le début du printemps et la fin de l’été, l’exposition établit une chronologie abstraite des variations qui rythment le passage du temps. Les Timescapes sont des compositions résultant de la condensation de photographies prises au fil du mois d’août et qui témoignent particulièrement de ces changements de lumière et des métamorphoses du paysage. Structurées en trois niveaux, elles traduisent les fluctuations de la mer, du ciel et du sable, captant leurs états successifs dans une même composition.

NL Stijn Cole is een multidisciplinaire kunstenaar wiens werk draait om de relatie tussen de toeschouwer en diens verankering in het landschap. Hij tracht de impact weer te geven die veranderingen in het weer en het licht op een natuurlijke omgeving teweegbrengen, via een proces waarbij zowel analoge als digitale kunstvormen worden ingezet en abstractie en figuratie elkaar afwisselen. Voor zijn tweede solotentoonstelling in de galerie presenteert Stijn Cole een nieuwe reeks werken die geïnspireerd is door de cyclus van de seizoenen. De tentoonstelling, die is opgevat als een overgangsruimte tussen het begin van de lente en het einde van de zomer, schetst een abstracte chronologie van de veranderingen die het verstrijken van de tijd kenmerken. Coles Timescapes zijn composities die juist deze veranderingen in het licht en de metamorfoses van het landschap vastleggen. Ze zijn ontstaan door foto’s die in de loop van augustus zijn genomen samen te voegen. De composities zijn opgebouwd uit drie lagen en geven de schommelingen van de zee, de lucht en het zand weer, waarbij de opeenvolgende toestanden ervan in één enkele compositie worden vastgelegd.

EN Stijn Cole is a multidisciplinary artist based in Ghent, Belgium. Cole’s practice draws on the relationship between the artist and his position in the landscape. Through a process involving analog and digital art forms, Cole often works with the fluctuating impact of time and light on a specific environment. In combining these altered states of nature in single compositions, Cole speaks of elusive and expansive moments created from subjective points of view. For his second solo exhibition at the gallery, Stijn Cole presents a new ensemble of works inspired by the cycle of the seasons. Conceived as a transitional space between the beginning of spring and the end of summer, the exhibition establishes an abstract chronology of the variations that mark the passage of time. Cole’s Timescapes are compositions that particularly capture these shifts in light and the metamorphoses of the landscape. They are created by condensing photographs taken throughout August. Structured in three levels, they convey the fluctuations of the sea, the sky and the sand, capturing their successive states within a single composition.
