Leeskamer- Max Pinckers

FR Dans la lignée de ses recherches sur le médium photographique, Max Pinckers explore la tension entre deux modes majeurs de diffusion : le livre et l’exposition. Si le livre propose une expérience intime, tactile et individuelle, l’exposition déploie les images dans l’espace, spatialise le récit et suscite une réception collective.

Le projet Leeskamer prend l’objet imprimé comme point de départ pour interroger son passage vers l’installation et la mise en espace. Il propose la mise en espace de trois séries photographiques jusqu’alors uniquement diffusées sous forme de livres : The Future Without You, State of Emergency et Colour Theory. En déplaçant les modalités traditionnelles de présentation de la photographie, Leeskamer invite les visiteur·euses à expérimenter de nouvelles formes de perception et à renouveler leur relation à l’image.

NL In het verlengde van zijn onderzoek naar het medium fotografie onderzoekt Max Pinckers de spanning tussen twee belangrijke verspreidingsvormen: het boek en de tentoonstelling. Waar het boek een intieme, tactiele en individuele ervaring biedt, ontvouwt de tentoonstelling beelden in de ruimte, ruimtelijkt ze het verhaal en roept ze een collectieve beleving op.

Het project Leeskamer neemt het gedrukte object als uitgangspunt om de overgang naar de installatie en de ruimtelijke opstelling te bevragen. Het brengt drie fotoreeksen in de ruimte die tot nu toe enkel in boekvorm zijn verschenen: The Future Without You, State of Emergency en Colour Theory. Door de traditionele manieren waarop fotografie wordt gepresenteerd te verschuiven, nodigt Leeskamer bezoekers uit om nieuwe vormen van perceptie te ervaren en hun relatie met het beeld te vernieuwen.

EN In line with his ongoing investigation into the photographic medium, Max Pinckers explores the tension between two primary modes of display: the book and the exhibition. While the book offers an intimate, tactile, and individual experience, the exhibition unfolds images within space, spatializes the narrative, and fosters a collective reception.

The project Leeskamer uses the printed object as a starting point to examine its transition into physical space and installation. It presents the spatial layout of three photographic series previously distributed solely as books: The Future Without You, State of Emergency, and Colour Theory. By shifting traditional photographic display methods, Leeskamer invites visitors to experience new modes of perception and reimagine their relationship with the image.
