THE LINK - Sarah Ernst and the photographers of atelier Contraste
22 January - 21 February 2027
EN For the 2026-2027 academic year, Ateliers Contraste is developing a programme of artistic research and creation around the concept of “connection”, in collaboration with Sarah Ernst, dancer, choreographer and contemporary artist invited as this year's guest artist.
How does the gaze encounter movement? How does the body transform our perception of space? And what happens when photographers and dancers share a common space for artistic creation?
Through a collective and experimental approach, the photographers of Contraste and Sarah Ernst explore the relationships that emerge between the body, the image, movement and space.
Photography is no longer limited to capturing a moment. It becomes an act of presence, a way of connecting with others, of experiencing the distances, proximities and tensions that inhabit a place.
The body, in turn, is no longer simply a subject to be photographed: it becomes an active partner in the creative process, influencing the gaze, the framing and the construction of images.
Presented as part of the PhotoBrussels Festival 2027, this collective work will take the form of an artistic project combining photography, contemporary dance and performances, in which images and movements engage in dialogue and respond to one another.
An invitation to experience photography differently, as a sensory, embodied and relational practice.
