FR Commencée en 2020 pendant le confinement, la série Herbarium d’Anne Greuzat est à l’antithèse de l’abondance. Ici, il est question d’épuration, de dépouillement, de retenue. La multitude laisse place à l’individu. Chaque plante est isolée, extraite de son contexte, photographiée sur fond blanc, en intérieur, en studio. L’immensité du paysage cède la place à un univers restreint, clos. La distance entre l’objectif et le sujet se réduit. Pourtant, l’intention reste la même : le regard, auparavant absorbé par les ramifications des arbres et des racines, se concentre désormais sur les détails d’une fleur — sa texture, ses couleurs, ses formes. Le plaisir ressenti est alors de même nature que celui éprouvé face à des espaces plus vastes.
NL De reeks Herbarium van Anne Greuzat, begonnen in 2020 tijdens de lockdown, vormt het tegenovergestelde van overvloed. Hier draait alles om zuivering, soberheid en terughoudendheid. De veelheid maakt plaats voor het individuele. Elke plant wordt geïsoleerd, uit haar context gehaald en binnenshuis tegen een witte achtergrond gefotografeerd. De uitgestrektheid van het landschap maakt plaats voor een besloten, intieme ruimte. De afstand tussen lens en onderwerp verkleint. Toch blijft de intentie dezelfde: de blik, die vroeger werd opgeslorpt door de vertakkingen van bomen en wortels, richt zich nu op de details van een bloem — haar textuur, haar kleuren, haar vormen. Het genoegen dat dit oproept, is van dezelfde aard als dat wat men voelt bij ruimere, open landschappen
EN Started in 2020 during the lockdown, Anne Greuzat’s Herbarium series stands in stark contrast to abundance. Here, it is a matter of purification, restraint, and simplicity. The multitude gives way to the singular. Each plant is isolated, removed from its context, photographed indoors against a white background. The vastness of the landscape yields to a confined, intimate space. The distance between the lens and the subject narrows. Yet the intention remains the same: the gaze, once absorbed by the branching of trees and roots, now focuses on the details of a flower — its texture, its colors, its form. The pleasure it evokes is of the same nature as that felt before wider, more open spaces.
