Les replis du temps - Sophie Zénon

FR Cette exposition, Les replis du temps, nous invite à plonger dans l’univers singulier de Sophie Zénon, où mémoire, histoire et passage du temps se mêlent avec délicatesse. L’artiste révèle comment la nature conserve, à sa manière, les traces des guerres et des déplacements humains. Les temps de guerre et de troubles s’accompagnent en effet d’immenses mouvements de troupes et de populations réfugiées, mais aussi d’introductions invisibles : celles de plantes nouvelles, transportées malgré elles dans le fourrage des chevaux, dans les vêtements ou sous les chaussures des soldats, ou encore cultivées à des fins médicinales et alimentaires.
Photographies, archives réactivées, livres d’artiste, installations, photogrammes, monotypes... chaque médium se déploie comme une respiration différente, révélant l’importance qu’elle accorde à l’expérimentation, à la matérialité et à l’hybridation des formes.
NL De tentoonstelling Les replis du temps nodigt uit om onder te dompelen in het unieke universum van Sophie Zénon, waar geheugen, geschiedenis en het verstrijken van de tijd zich op delicate wijze vermengen. De kunstenares toont hoe de natuur op haar eigen manier sporen bewaart van oorlogen en menselijke verplaatsingen. Oorlogstijden en periodes van onrust gaan immers gepaard met enorme troepenbewegingen en vluchtelingenstromen, maar ook met onzichtbare introducties: nieuwe planten die onbedoeld worden meegenomen in paardenvoer, in de kleding of onder de schoenen van soldaten, of gekweekt voor medicinale en voedingsdoeleinden.
Foto’s, geheractiveerde archieven, kunstenaarsboeken, installaties, fotogrammen, monotypes… elk medium ontvouwt zich als een andere ademhaling en toont het belang dat Zénon hecht aan experiment, materialiteit en de hybridisering van vormen.
EN The exhibition Les replis du temps invites us to immerse ourselves in the singular universe of Sophie Zénon, where memory, history, and the passage of time intertwine delicately. The artist reveals how nature preserves, in its own way, traces of wars and human displacements. Times of war and turmoil are accompanied by massive troop movements and refugee flows, but also by invisible introductions: new plants inadvertently transported in horse fodder, in soldiers’ clothing or under their shoes, or cultivated for medicinal and nutritional purposes.
Photographs, reactivated archives, artist books, installations, photograms, monotypes… each medium unfolds like a different breath, revealing the importance Zénon places on experimentation, materiality, and the hybridization of forms.
