FR The HOUSE, la première exposition de Lee Shulman / The Anonymous Project fut l’un des moments forts des Rencontres de la Photographie d’Arles en 2019 et n’a jamais été présentée depuis. The Anonymous Project réalise ainsi sa première exposition sur le territoire belge. Conçue comme une expérience totalement immersive, The HOUSE dépasse la simple présentation d’images en recréant l’atmosphère d’une maison des années 1950. Les photographies ne sont pas simplement accrochées aux murs : elles habitent l’espace.  Chaque image trouve sa place dans un cadre domestique — cuisine, salon, chambre. L’intention est de créer un environnement vivant où le spectateur se sent « chez lui ».  L’album de famille anonyme de cette installation immersive se prolonge aux étages du Hangar avec sept projets qui explorent les liens familiaux des artistes. À travers des récits intimes, ils abordent des thématiques qui leur sont chères : la relation entre sœurs, le lien aux parents, le deuil et la réconciliation. Ces histoires tissent un univers sensible autour de l’identité, de l’amour et de la mémoire. 

NL The HOUSE, de eerste tentoonstelling van Lee Shulman / The Anonymous Project, was een van de hoogtepunten van Les Rencontres de la Photographie in Arles in 2019 en is sindsdien nooit meer getoond. Met deze presentatie brengt The Anonymous Project zijn eerste tentoonstelling op Belgische bodem. Ontworpen als een volledig immersieve ervaring, gaat The HOUSE verder dan het louter tonen van beelden: het reconstrueert de sfeer van een huis uit de jaren vijftig. De foto’s worden niet zomaar aan de muren gehangen — ze bewonen de ruimte. Elk beeld vindt zijn plaats in een huiselijke omgeving — keuken, woonkamer, slaapkamer. De bedoeling is een levendige sfeer te creëren waarin de bezoeker zich “thuis” voelt. Het anonieme familiealbum van deze immersieve installatie wordt voortgezet op de bovenverdiepingen van Hangar, met zeven projecten die de familiale banden van de kunstenaars verkennen. Via intieme verhalen behandelen ze thema’s die hen na aan het hart liggen: zusterbanden, relaties met ouders, rouw en verzoening. Deze verhalen weven een gevoelig universum rond identiteit, liefde en herinnering.

The Anonymous Project thus presents its first exhibition in Belgium. Conceived as a fully immersive experience, The HOUSE goes beyond the simple display of images by recreating the atmosphere of a 1950s home. The photographs are not merely hung on walls — they inhabit the space. Each image finds its place within a domestic setting — kitchen, living room, bedroom. The intention is to create a living environment where the visitor feels “at home.” The anonymous family album of this immersive installation continues on the upper floors of Hangar with seven projects exploring the artists’ own family ties. Through intimate narratives, they address themes close to them: sisterhood, the bond with parents, grief, and reconciliation. These stories weave a sensitive universe around identity, love, and memory.
