FR La vie du musicien de jazz est toujours intimement liée au son du groupe mais aussi à des moments solitaires.
« Solo(s) » illustrent ces instants de grâce au cours desquels Shabaka Hutchings s’érige seul face à son public. Quand Fred Hersch semble parler à son piano, Michel Portal se cache dans les recoins d’un théâtre pour chauffer sa clarinette basse et éloigner le trac.
« Solo(s) » c’est aussi l’extase d’Abdullah Miniawy (Le Cri du Caire) en écoutant le solo de Peter Corser.
«Solo(s) » est une petite histoire du jazz qui tente de révéler que l’intensité des émotions ressenties par chaque musicien donne du corps et de l’âme au son du groupe.
Hervé Escario est le lauréat du Jazz World Photo en 2023 et 2025.
NL Het leven van een jazzmuzikant is altijd nauw verbonden met het geluid van de groep, maar ook met momenten van eenzaamheid.
“Solo(s)” illustreert deze momenten van gratie waarop Shabaka Hutchings alleen voor zijn publiek staat. Wanneer Fred Hersch lijkt te praten met zijn piano, verstopt Michel Portal zich in de hoeken van een theater om zijn basklarinet op te warmen en zijn zenuwen te bedwingen.
“Solo(s)” is ook de extase van Abdullah Miniawy (Le Cri du Caire) bij het luisteren naar de solo van Peter Corser.
“Solo(s)” is een korte geschiedenis van de jazz die tracht te onthullen dat de intensiteit van de emoties die elke muzikant voelt, lichaam en ziel geeft aan het geluid van de groep.
Hervé Escario is de winnaar van de Jazz World Photo-award in 2023 en 2025.
EN The life of a jazz musician is always closely linked to the sound of the band, but also to moments of solitude.
‘Solo(s)’ illustrates these moments of grace during which Shabaka Hutchings stands alone in front of his audience. When Fred Hersch seems to talk to his piano, Michel Portal hides in the corners of a theatre to warm up his bass clarinet and shake off his stage fright.
‘Solo(s)’ is also the ecstasy of Abdullah Miniawy (Le Cri du Caire) listening to Peter Corser's solo.
‘Solo(s)’ is a short history of jazz that attempts to reveal how the intensity of the emotions felt by each musician gives body and soul to the sound of the band.
