EN At the time of the planetary overshoot, marking the incapacity of the Earth's biotope to renew itself for a year, how to live in today's world? Roman Moriceau, in the continuation of his artistic research, tries to face it through wonder. In an almost infinite cycle, he gives life to forgotten or rejected materials and composes works that embody a story. The presence of species of an extinct fauna and flora emanates from these spectral images. Like relics, their souls are revealed. This impression is achieved through the technical process of revelation with the use of silver salts waste taken from old photographic baths. The artist confuses our perception to the end to bring us to feel the sacred beauty resulting from the force of nature.
FR À l’heure du dépassement planétaire, marquant l’incapacité du biotope terrestre à se renouveler sur une année, comment vivre dans le monde d’aujourd’hui ? Roman Moriceau, dans la continuité de sa recherche artistique, tente d’y faire face par l’émerveillement. Dans un cycle presque infini, il redonne vie à des matériaux oubliés ou rejetés et compose des œuvres qui incarnent une histoire. La présence d’espèces d’une faune et d’une flore disparues émane de ces images spectrales. Telles des reliques, leurs âmes se révèlent. Cette impression est rendue possible par un procédé technique de révélation, utilisant des résidus de sels d’argent issus d’anciens bains photographiques. L’artiste trouble notre perception jusqu’au bout pour nous amener à ressentir la beauté sacrée émanant de la force de la nature.
NL Op het moment van de planetaire overshoot, die het onvermogen van het aardse biotoop markeert om zich binnen een jaar te herstellen, rijst de vraag: hoe leven we in de wereld van vandaag? Roman Moriceau probeert hier, in het verlengde van zijn artistiek onderzoek, mee om te gaan via verwondering. In een bijna oneindige cyclus blaast hij vergeten of afgedankte materialen nieuw leven in en creëert werken die een verhaal belichamen. De aanwezigheid van uitgestorven fauna- en florasoorten komt naar voren in deze spookachtige beelden. Als relikwieën onthullen ze hun ziel. Dit effect wordt bereikt via een technisch onthullingsproces waarbij restanten van zilverzouten uit oude fotografische baden worden gebruikt. De kunstenaar verstoort onze waarneming tot het einde toe, om ons de sacrale schoonheid te laten voelen die voortkomt uit de kracht van de natuur.
